Learn About The Existing Diabetes Types
Diabetes is a disease that interferes with the absorption of sugar from the blood to the cells of the body. When glucose is absorbed be cells it is transformed into energy and the body becomes active. This absorption is possible when the pancreas, an organ, which is situated behind the liver, produces insulin. Insulin is a hormone with the help of which the glucose from the blood can be broken up into components that can be absorbed by the cells.
Diabetes-affected people do not have sufficient insulin, and hence the sugar remains in the blood instead of being transformed into energy. The excess sugar is then excreted through urine. Since the body is unable to use the sugar ingested, complications set in which if left untreated, lead to death.
